Description
The Soudal T-Rex Power Turbo is a high-quality, neutral-cure, elastic adhesive-sealant manufactured by Soudal, the world’s largest independent sealant and adhesive manufacturer. Based on SMX hybrid polymer technology (silyl-modified polymer), it delivers an exceptionally fast strength build-up with a skin formation time of just 5 minutes and a curing speed of 2–3 mm per 24 hours. It is KOMO-certified as a construction adhesive under BRL 3107.
Unlike traditional polyurethane or silicone adhesives, the SMX polymer base gives T-Rex Power Turbo a unique combination of very high final bond strength (3.80 N/mm² tensile), permanent elasticity (200% elongation at break) and excellent adhesion to damp surfaces. It is isocyanate-free, virtually odourless, paintable with water-based paints, and compliant with LEED low-emitting materials requirements (SCAQMD Rule 1168).

Where to Use
- Elastic bonding of panels, profiles, skirting boards and decorative elements
- Mounting mirrors, shelving brackets and fixtures to walls
- Bonding in the building and metal industry (steel, galvanised steel, aluminium alloys)
- Fixing cladding, signage and facade elements
- Sealing and bonding in construction, renovation and fit-out projects
- Bonding to damp or slightly wet substrates where other adhesives fail
Compatible Substrates
T-Rex Power Turbo bonds to most common building substrates including treated wood, concrete, brick, natural stone (bonding only, not as joint sealant), aluminium, steel, galvanised steel and a wide range of plastics.
Tested metals: steel, AlMgSi1, electrolytic galvanised steel, AlCuMg1, flame galvanised steel, AlMg3 and steel ST1403.
Tested plastics: polystyrene, polycarbonate (Makrolon), PVC, ABS, polyamide, PMMA, fibreglass-reinforced epoxy and polyester.
Not suitable for: PE, PP, PTFE (Teflon) and bituminous substrates. Not recommended for stress-loaded bonding of PMMA or polycarbonate (risk of stress cracking).
How to Apply
- Surface preparation — Ensure substrates are rigid, clean, dry or slightly moist, and free of dust and grease. For porous surfaces in water-loaded applications, prime with Soudal Primer 150. For non-porous surfaces, use Soudal Surface Activator.
- Apply adhesive — Using a caulking gun, apply in uniform strips or dots (every 15 cm) on one substrate. Always place an adhesive strip or dot on corners and panel edges. Do not apply in a closed perimeter — leave gaps to allow moisture to reach the adhesive for curing.
- Bond — Press the second substrate firmly into position and tamp with a rubber hammer. The adhesive is adjustable for approximately 5 minutes.
- Support — If required, support the bonded materials while curing. On absorbent substrates with a thin adhesive layer, the bond is hand-tight after approximately 20 minutes and loadable after about 3 hours.
- Finishing — Smooth exposed beads with a soapy solution or Soudal Finishing Solution before the 5-minute skin time elapses.
- Clean-up — Remove uncured adhesive immediately with Soudal Fix ALL Cleaner. Cured material can only be removed mechanically.
Chemical Resistance
Good resistance to: salt water, fresh water, aliphatic solvents, hydrocarbons, ketones, esters, alcohols, diluted mineral acids and alkalis.
Poor resistance to: aromatic solvents, concentrated acids and chlorinated hydrocarbons.
Important Notes
- Not suitable for continuous water immersion, sanitary applications or aquarium bonding.
- Cannot be used as a glazing sealant.
- On natural stone, T-Rex Power Turbo may only be used as a bonding adhesive on the underside of tiles — not as a joint sealant on the visible face.
- Avoid contact with bitumen, tar, EPDM, neoprene and butyl — plasticiser migration can cause discolouration and adhesion loss.
- Paintable with most water-based paints, but always conduct a compatibility test. Alkyd resin paints may take longer to dry over the cured adhesive.
- The product may discolour under extreme UV or high-temperature conditions; this does not affect mechanical performance.
- Thicker adhesive layers and non-absorbent substrates will extend curing time beyond the standard rates.
Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly can T-Rex Power Turbo be loaded after bonding?
On absorbent and porous substrates with a thin adhesive layer, T-Rex Power Turbo is hand-tight after approximately 20 minutes and can bear load after about 3 hours. Thicker adhesive beads or non-absorbent substrates will extend these times because SMX polymer cures by absorbing atmospheric moisture.
Can T-Rex Power Turbo be painted over?
Yes. Once fully cured, T-Rex Power Turbo is paintable with most water-based paints and varnishes. However, due to the large variety of paint formulations available, Soudal recommends conducting a compatibility test on a small area before full application. The drying time of alkyd resin (oil-based) paints may be increased when applied over this adhesive.
Is T-Rex Power Turbo suitable for bonding in wet areas like bathrooms?
T-Rex Power Turbo bonds effectively to damp and slightly wet substrates, and has good resistance to water once cured. However, it is not rated for continuous water immersion or sanitary sealing applications (such as bath-to-wall joints). For permanently wet sealing, use a dedicated sanitary silicone sealant from the Soudal range.
