Description

Pietra Recycled Glass Subway Tile brings the classic, characterful look of travertine stone to a genuinely sustainable material — recycled glass — without the porosity, sealing requirements and natural variation that come with quarried travertine. Its matt finish captures the soft, textured appearance of stone while the tile itself stays dense, consistent and manufactured to a uniform standard from batch to batch.

At 145mm x 70mm, it’s a smaller subway format than the more common 300 x 100mm ceramic range, giving it a genuinely different scale and proportion on a wall or floor — better suited to detailed feature areas, smaller splashbacks or where a finer-grained pattern is wanted. Being rated suitable for both floors and walls broadens where it can be specified compared with a wall-only decorative tile.

Where to Use

  • Floors and walls seeking a travertine-stone look
  • Feature walls and detailed splashback areas
  • Sustainable design projects prioritising recycled materials

How to Apply

  1. Plan the layout — choose a laying pattern suited to the smaller subway format.
  2. Calculate quantity — order to the nearest square metre, allowing extra for cuts.
  3. Fix with a suitable tile adhesive — select an adhesive rated for the substrate and application (floor or wall).
  4. Grout — choose a grout colour to complement the travertine-look finish.

Important Notes

  • Confirm slip resistance rating directly with Multifors before specifying for a floor application in a wet area.
  • Order to the nearest whole square metre, allowing extra for cuts and pattern layout.

Recycled glass tile manufacturing genuinely differs from quarrying natural stone: rather than extracting and cutting a finite material, Pietra is produced from reclaimed glass reformed into a dense, uniform tile body, then finished with a matt surface treatment that mimics travertine’s characteristic texture. That process gives a genuinely sustainable material story without asking a designer to compromise on the classic stone look many projects are specified around. That process gives specifiers a genuinely sustainable material story without asking them to compromise on the classic stone look many projects are built around in the first place. Its smaller format also means more individual tiles and grout lines per square metre than a standard subway size, which is worth factoring into both material quantity and labour time estimates for a job. Requesting a physical sample before ordering in bulk is worthwhile for any glass tile, since its light-reflective surface can shift in appearance more noticeably between a screen image and the finished wall than a matte ceramic tile would.
