Description
Mapei Ultrabond ECO Tack TX AU
– 16kg Pail
Mapei Ultrabond ECO Tack TX AU is a Carpet Tile tackifier. It is an
acrylic-based adhesive designed to provide a permanently tacky film when
dry to allow the removal and replacement of carpet tiles when required.
It can also be used to prevent carpet underlayment, textile floorings, loose lay
LVT, and VCT from slipping or moving. It is for interior use only.
WHERE TO USE:
- Ultrabond Eco Tack TX AU is an acrylic-based adhesive designed to
provide a permanently tacky film when dry to allow the removal and replacement of
carpet tiles when required. - It can also be used to prevent carpet underlayment, textile floorings,
loose lay LVT, and VCT from slipping or moving. - For interior use only.
APPLICATION EXAMPLES:
Installation of:
- dimensionally stable carpet tiles backed with bitumen/felt, non-woven
fabric, PVC, polypropylene and other polymer backings; - carpet underlay;
- loose lay textile floorings;
- loose lay LVT (if allowed by flooring manufacturer);
onto all substrates normally used in the building industry (concrete, engineered
screeds, terrazzo, plywood, etc.), smoothing compounds, existing hard flooring and
raised access floor panels.
Ultrabond Eco Tack TX AU is also suitable for use over underfloor heating systems
(surface temperature must not exceed levels prescribed by local regulations).
TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Ultrabond Eco Tack TX AU is an acrylic adhesive in water dispersion, formulated in
a ready-to-use blue viscous liquid, designed to provide a permanently tacky film
when dry, which prevents loose lay tiles from moving.
Product properties
- Very easy to apply by roller, trowel or brush;
- Colour pigmented to aid coverage uniformity;
- Very low consumption;
- Fast drying
- Easy removal or replacement of individual, damaged or worn tiles and
coverings; - Suitable for exposure to castor wheels in accordance with EN 12529;
- Not flammable;
- Solvent free;
- Low odour;
- Low VOC for compliance with the relevant Green Star rating tool limits
RECOMMENDATIONS:
- Install the flooring at the temperature recommended by the manufacturer
(usually between 15°C to 35°C). - Do not apply on damp substrates or substrates affected by rising damp.
- If flooring is laid on Ultrabond Eco Tack TXAU before the film has
dried, the bond is more permanent and may not be easily removed. - When installing over underfloor heating systems, the heating should be
switched off at least 48 hours before and after the installation of the floor
covering, the heating should be gradually increased no more than 5 degrees per day. - Ultrabond Eco Tack TX AU cannot prevent dimensional changes in floor
coverings; in areas subject to excessive temperature variations and in case of not
completely dimensionally stable floorings, care should be taken as any movement
occurring may cause gaping. - Ultrabond Eco Tack TX AU bonds extremely well to the surface. Existing
floor flnishes cannot be restored to their original condition. - In case Ultrabond Eco Tack TX AU adhesive film becomes less tacky with
time due to the presence of dust or for any other reason, the direct application of
another layer of adhesive can be carried out. - For smooth backed or PVC backed carpet tiles the adhesive can be
applied by roller. - For cushion backed carpet tiles, dual bond carpet underlay or approved
loose lay LVT apply by U1 or V1 notch trowel
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Preparation of the substrate
- All phases of the installation should comply with the latest editions
of the local standards. For Australia, this is AS 2455. - The sub-floor must be clean, free from any contaminants and
structurally sound. Any surface additives that may hinder adhesion should be
removed. - They should also have an effective damp-proof membrane and be
dry enough to receive a bonded floor covering. - The level of humidity must be the one foreseen by the regulation of
each country and must never exceed the levels recommended by the manufacturer of
the flooring. - If required, apply a Mapei moisture vapour barrier such as Mapeproof 1K
Turbo or Primer MF. - On very absorbent substrates, first apply a coat of a suitable MAPEI
acrylic primer in water dispersion (i.e. EcoPrim T Plus) before applying Ultrabond
Eco Tack TX AU. - The surface of raised access panels is usually suitable for the direct
use of Ultrabond Eco Tack TX AU (avoid excess adhesive seeping between individual
panels). - In case of very absorbent panel surfaces, the application of a suitable
MAPEI primer (i.e. Eco Prim T Plus) is in any case recommended. - To repair cracks in the substrate, consolidate and waterproof screeds,
form new fast-drying screeds and level uneven substrates, please refer to the
relevant technical documentation or contact the MAPEI Technical Service Department.
Acclimatisation
- Before starting the installation, ensure that the floor covering and
the substrate are acclimatised to the recommended temperatures and R.H.
Spreading the Adhesive
- Ultrabond Eco Tack TX AU is ready to use and does not need any
preparation. - Before using, stir the adhesive in the bucket.
- Apply the adhesive evenly to the substrate using a roller, trowel or
brush. - In the case that no adhesive residue is to remain on the substrate, the
adhesive can be applied to the back of the tiles. - Allow to dry to a transparent tacky film (10-20 minutes onto absorbent
substrates). - Drying times may vary according to sub-floor type and ambient
temperature, humidity and airflow. - In any case, install the flooring within 12 hours after the adhesive
application.
Laying the Floor
- Follow the laying instructions supplied by the manufacturer of the
flooring material. - Lay the floor in place and then massage over the surface evenly.
CLEANING:
- Use water to remove traces of adhesive whilst it is still fresh, from
floors, tools and hands, always protect adjacent surfaces where adhesive
application is not required. - Once dry, an alcohol type cleaner must be used to remove it, be careful
the cleaner doesn’t damage the surface.
CONSUMPTION:
- Consumption varies with uniformity of substrate, the back of the
flooring and installation method (roller or trowel). - Consumption: 80-150 g/m².
PACKAGING:
- The product is supplied in 16 kg buckets.
STORAGE:
- Ultrabond Eco Tack TX AUremains stable for at least 12 months when
stored in a cool, dry environment in its original, sealed packaging.
