Description
Covings, fillets, steps and corner pieces are the parts of a vinyl installation where a trowelled adhesive will not hold. Ultrabond ECO Contact is the contact adhesive Mapei makes for them: solvent free, applied to both the substrate and the back of the material, and gripping the moment the two meet.
Its useful property on site is the working window. The waiting time before bonding runs from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on conditions, and material can still be installed up to 18 hours after the adhesive was spread, which means a coving run does not have to be finished the same hour it was started.

How to Apply
- Prepare — Both surfaces must be clean, dry and sound before the adhesive goes on.
- Apply to both faces — Spread on the substrate and on the back of the material at 150 to 200 g/m² per coat.
- Wait — Allow 30 minutes to 2 hours. The exact time depends on temperature, humidity and how absorbent the substrate is.
- Bond — Bring the two surfaces together and press firmly. Contact adhesive grips immediately, so position accurately first time.
- Use — The bonded area takes light foot traffic straight away.
Important Notes
- Contact adhesive allows no adjustment once the surfaces meet, so position before pressing down.
- Because it is solvent free and EMICODE EC1 Plus, it suits occupied buildings where solvent-based contact adhesives are not acceptable.
- Store sealed and protect from prolonged frost. Shelf life is 12 months in the original packaging.
