Electronics and general equipment need genuinely different corrosion protection to painted metalwork, and CRC Clear Zinc Coating’s non-conductive, high-gloss film is built specifically to bridge that gap.

Description

CRC Clear Zinc Coating protects surfaces from chemical, environmental and ultraviolet damage — preventing rust, oxidation, corrosion, staining and fading — for up to 27 months, applied as an easy-to-use, long-lasting, high-performance clear coating suited to almost any surface. Its organo-zinc compound drastically improves surface wetting, ensuring residual air trapped within the surface texture is displaced and replaced with the coating itself for genuinely thorough protection rather than a patchy film.

The finish itself is a smooth, clear, high-gloss coating that will not yellow over time, unlike some clear protective coatings that discolour with UV exposure. It’s fully impermeable, stopping moisture and air from reaching the protected surface, and remains flexible rather than cracking or chipping under stress — a genuine advantage over a rigid clear coating that can fail at flex points or edges.

Being non-conductive sets Clear Zinc apart from the rest of the range, making it genuinely suited as a conformal coating for printed circuit boards, protecting electronic components from moisture and corrosion without any risk of shorting a circuit. It dries fast — touch dry in 20 minutes, full cure in 24 hours — giving quick turnaround whether it’s being used on general equipment or sensitive electronics.

Its non-conductive properties genuinely widen where it can be used compared with the coloured CRC Zinc range, covering delicate electronics as comfortably as general workshop equipment needing a clear protective finish. Its impermeable film also stops air reaching the treated surface, which is what genuinely prevents oxidation from restarting once the coating is applied, rather than just slowing it down temporarily.

Where to Use

  • General surfaces needing invisible corrosion and UV protection
  • Printed circuit boards and electronic components as a conformal coating
  • Equipment where a coloured safety finish isn’t wanted

How to Apply

  1. Prepare the surface — ensure it is clean and dry before application.
  2. Apply thin coats — with smooth, even strokes, holding the can approximately 25cm from the surface.
  3. Allow to touch dry — approximately 20 minutes.
  4. Allow full cure — approximately 24 hours before returning the item to service.

Important Notes

  • Non-conductive — suitable for use around electrical connections, terminations and circuit boards.
  • Will not yellow with UV exposure.
  • Refer to the product’s Safety Data Sheet for full handling and hazard information.

Frequently asked questions

How does Clear Zinc differ from the coloured CRC Zinc Coatings?

It uses the same corrosion-fighting principle but in a clear, non-conductive, high-gloss finish rather than a coloured safety enamel — better suited to surfaces where an invisible coating or electrical non-conductivity is required, such as printed circuit boards.

Can Clear Zinc be used on electronics?

Yes — being non-conductive, it’s ideal as a conformal coating for printed circuit boards, protecting them from moisture and corrosion without risking a short circuit.

How long does the protection last?

Up to 27 months, protecting surfaces from chemical, environmental and ultraviolet damage including rust, oxidation, corrosion, staining and fading.
