Description
CRC Brakleen is formulated to quickly and safely remove brake fluid, grease, oil and other contaminants from brake linings, pads, drums and callipers, with selected solvents, controlled evaporation, low surface tension and high density that give it genuinely superior cleaning and degreasing power. It can even lift and remove oil and grease that’s already penetrated into brake linings, not just surface contamination.
Fast evaporation minimises the downtime associated with clean-in-place cleaning methods, and being residue free means it eliminates the need for rinsing or wiping afterward — a genuine time saver in a busy workshop doing repeated brake and parts cleaning throughout the day. Being non-staining, non-corrosive, and free of CFC 113, Methyl Chloroform, Carbon Tetrachloride and silicones reflects a formulation built for both effectiveness and reduced environmental impact compared with older-generation brake cleaners.
The combination of fast evaporation and a residue-free finish is what makes Brakleen suited to precision cleaning rather than general degreasing — brake components need to be completely free of any film before reassembly, since residual oil or grease on a friction surface can cause noise, reduced stopping power or uneven wear. Its non-staining, non-corrosive formulation also extends its usefulness beyond brakes to other automotive parts cleaning where a safe, fast-drying solvent is needed.
Its flammability profile — a flash point of just 10°C — means it should always be used in a well-ventilated area away from ignition sources, and the full Safety Data Sheet is worth reviewing before first use on an unfamiliar application.

Where to Use
- Mechanical brake linings, drums, shoes, disc pads and callipers
- Clutches, clutch discs, chains, wire ropes, dies, moulds and bearings
- CV joints and wheel bearings
- Flushing dirt, grease and oil from forklifts and industrial machinery
How to Apply
- Spray directly — apply to the brake component or part requiring cleaning.
- Allow to work — let the solvent dissolve grease, oil and brake fluid contamination.
- Allow to evaporate — fast evaporation means no rinsing or wiping is generally needed.
- Reapply for heavier contamination — repeat for contamination that has deeply penetrated the lining.
Important Notes
- Highly flammable — flash point of just 10°C means genuine care around heat sources and ignition points.
- Use in well-ventilated areas.
- Refer to the product’s Safety Data Sheet for full handling and hazard information.
