Description
Polycell ThermaWrap 6.5mm Insulation Foil sits in the middle of Polycell’s three-thickness ThermaWrap range, built around the same closed-cell XPE foam core as the 4mm and 8mm options but with more insulation depth for jobs where the entry thickness is genuinely marginal. The core is faced with a bright aluminium foil surface that reflects radiant heat, backed by a low-emissivity antiglare layer that reduces on-site glare without dulling the reflective performance the product is actually installed for.
Stepping up to 6.5mm is a real consideration for a more exposed wall elevation or a colder climate zone, where the extra core depth genuinely improves thermal resistance over the entry 4mm option without needing to change to a completely different insulation product. The woven foil lamination carries over from the rest of the range, keeping the roll tear-resistant through the stapling and pulling of a typical roofing or wall-framing installation.
It’s built for the same commercial and residential roofing and external wall applications as the rest of the ThermaWrap range, and installs the same way — fixed to framing with the reflective foil face oriented toward the air gap it needs to work across. This 6.5mm roll is supplied as a 30m² pack, matching the pack size of the 4mm and 8mm options so coverage estimates carry across a job that mixes thicknesses by wall elevation.
Because the closed-cell core doesn’t absorb moisture, it holds its thermal performance even if the roll sits exposed on site for a period before the roofing or cladding goes over the top, which is a genuine practical advantage over an open-cell equivalent. Keeping joins lapped and the foil face correctly oriented is what actually delivers on the extra insulation depth this thickness is chosen for.

Where to Use
- Commercial and residential roofing
- External wall construction, particularly more exposed elevations
- Colder-climate builds needing more thermal resistance than the entry thickness
How to Apply
- Plan the run — measure the roof or wall section against the 30m² roll to minimise off-cuts.
- Orient the foil face — position the bright aluminium surface toward the air gap it needs to reflect across.
- Fix in place — staple or fix along the framing, keeping the woven foil surface taut to avoid sagging.
- Overlap joins — lap adjoining rolls to maintain a continuous reflective barrier.
- Complete the build-up — proceed with roofing or cladding over the top once the foil is fixed.
Important Notes
- Orientation of the reflective foil face affects thermal performance — install with the foil facing the air gap.
- Keep the roll dry prior to installation to protect the foil surface.
- Also available in 4mm and 8mm thicknesses depending on the insulation level required.
