Description
Sal is Spanish for salt, and this Granadella colour wears an off white glaze, washed in places with soft sandy beige, that keeps a kitchen, laundry or ensuite bright. Dune makes it in Spain as 9mm porcelain in the slim 64x223mm subway format, with a gloss surface over an irregular texture and 12 different faces.
The datasheet backs the look with water absorption of E ≤ 0.5%, breaking strength over 35 N/mm², compliant frost and crazing results and a stain resistance score of 5. Slip is Class 0 under UNE-EN 16165 Annex C, so Sal belongs on walls, not wet floors.

Where to Use

How to Apply
- Get the wall ready: it should be sound, flat and clean, with any dip beyond 2mm filled, cracks repaired and moisture content held under 2%.
- Adhesive: a C2 cementitious adhesive suits porcelain; fix a two tile test and check the bond and finish before carrying on.
- Spread thinly: begin at the lowest course, rake a bed of around 3mm with a no. 3 notched trowel and seat each Sal tile before a skin forms; skip dot and dab fixing.
- Space the courses: hold joints at 2mm or wider, 3mm against plasterboard or strong thermal movement, use self levelling spacers, and cap the brick offset at 25%.
- Grout and rinse: pack dry, clean joints with a flat rubber float, then lift residue with a wet sponge or pH neutral cleaner before it hardens, avoiding abrasives.
Colour and Finish
Dune lists shade variation, graphic variation and an irregular texture for Sal, so the beige washes and the gloss sheen fall differently from brick to brick. Draw from several boxes as you lay, and trial grout colour on a few pieces. Other colours in the Granadella range include Cielo, Marino, Esmeralda and Carbon.
