Description
Dune Kit Kat Mosaic Tile in Ocean Gloss Finish is made for surfaces that bend. Each 115x231mm porcelain piece, 8mm thick, carries a gloss finger relief separated by pre-cuts, and Dune’s website describes the series as suited to covering curved areas.
Ocean is a deep petrol blue with teal and inky tones, from a range Dune Ceramics bases on Japanese aesthetics. Its datasheet, code 188860, gives water absorption of E ≤ 0.5%, breaking strength over 35 N/mm², a result of 5 for resistance to stains and passes for both frost and crazing.

Where to Use
- Round or square columns in restaurants, lobbies and living areas
- Shower recess walls, ticked by Dune; not shower bases
- Courtyard and alfresco walls, with outdoor walls ticked on the sheet
- Walls around a pool, marked as a Dune use, but not the pool floor or steps
- Bathroom walls exposed to heavy steam, a high condensation use Dune ticks
How to Apply
- Check the substrate: firm, flat, clean and dry with moisture below 2%; repair cracks and level anything out by more than 2mm.
- Use C2 adhesive: Dune recommends C2 cementitious adhesive for porcelain, tested first on a couple of pieces.
- Comb and place: work upward, spreading roughly 3mm of adhesive combed with a no. 3 notched trowel, and bed each tile while it is still wet. Do not spot fix.
- Space the pieces: 2mm minimum, 3mm on unstable walls, equal to the pre-cut groove width; use self levelling spacers and keep offsets to 25% or less.
- Grout and wash down: pack grout into joints and grooves, use epoxy grout in wet zones, and wipe with a damp sponge, never an abrasive.
Colour and Finish
The Ocean glaze is graded V4 for shade variation across 6 faces with an irregular texture, so a finished wall shows a restless movement of blue; pull tiles from several boxes while fixing.
Other gloss colours include Snow, Ivory, Musgo, Water, Grass and Noche; Dune’s catalogue pairs Ocean with Kit-Kat White Matt.
Important Notes
- Order the whole job at once and from one batch, as tone can shift between production runs.
- Test values quoted here are those Dune publishes on the Ocean Gloss datasheet dated 15-09-2026.
- Check tiles before fixing; Dune will not accept claims or returns once material is installed.
- Grooves on pre-cut models may show small pores before grouting; once filled they are no longer visible.
- With no slip figure and floors marked NO, keep Ocean off floors and pool floors.
