Common Questions

Cork flooring FAQ

Should I choose a cork floating floor or cork tiles?

Choose a cork floating floor if you want fast, glue-free installation over an existing subfloor, ideal for living areas, bedrooms and studies. Choose cork tiles if you are finishing a wall or want a fully bonded, seamless floor in a high-traffic area. The floating ranges click together over an underlay; the tiles glue down for a permanent finish.

Is cork flooring durable enough for everyday use?

Yes. A sealed cork floor handles normal household traffic well and springs back from indentation better than most hard floors. For very high-traffic or commercial spaces, choose a glue-down cork tile with a factory-sealed finish.

Can I use cork in a kitchen or bathroom?

Cork suits kitchens and can be used in bathrooms when it is properly sealed and installed as a bonded tile rather than a floating floor. We will help you pick the right sealed product and the correct cork contact adhesive for wet-prone areas.

Does cork work over underfloor heating?

Cork’s natural insulation makes it a comfortable partner for underfloor heating. Keep to the manufacturer’s maximum surface temperature and let the floor acclimatise before installation.

How is cork flooring installed?

Floating floors click together over an underlay with no glue, so a competent DIYer can lay them. Cork tiles are bonded down with a cork contact adhesive over a prepared subfloor, priming first with Cork Tile Neo Primer where the surface is porous, for a permanent, seamless finish. Every product page lists the recommended method.
