Description

CRC QD Contact Cleaner is a general-purpose evaporating cleaner and degreaser made by CRC Industries (Aust) Pty Ltd for sensitive electronic and electrical equipment. The data sheet describes it as plastic-safe and formulated to penetrate quickly into hard-to-reach areas.

It is aimed at the build-up that holds moisture and leads to corrosion or arcing: carbon deposits, dirt, light oils, dust and lint. The data sheet notes that it should be used where lower flashpoint cleaners are acceptable, and it carries NSF P1 registration. The pack covered here is the 311 g aerosol.

  • Hard-to-reach areas, using the extension tube
  • Regular maintenance programmes to remove carbon deposits and other contaminants that hold moisture and cause corrosion or arcing

How to Apply

Directions as stated on the data sheet:

  1. Do not apply while energised: shut off the power supply, make sure all stored power is drained from the system and allow hot surfaces to cool.
  2. Prepare: for heavily soiled or corroded surfaces, buff with a mild abrasive first.
  3. Spray: tilt the surface and spray until clean, using an intermittent spray pattern to dislodge trapped particles and let excess cleaner run off.
  4. Reach: use the extension tube for pinpoint delivery or hard-to-reach areas.
  5. Dry and vent: allow the product to dry completely and thoroughly vent the system before restoring power.

Important Notes

  • Use on de-energised equipment only.
  • Extremely flammable aerosol. Keep away from naked flames, electrical appliances and lights, and lighted cigarettes. Do not spray on an open flame or other ignition source.
  • Use with adequate ventilation and store in a cool, well-ventilated area. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product.
  • Aerosol cans: do not puncture, incinerate or store above 50 degrees C, and do not place in direct sunlight or near any heat source.
  • Dispose of contents and container in accordance with relevant regulations, and do not contaminate the water supply.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use CRC QD Contact Cleaner on live equipment?

No. The data sheet directs that it must not be applied while equipment is energised. Shut off the power supply, make sure all stored power is drained from the system and let hot surfaces cool before use. Allow the product to dry completely and thoroughly vent the system before restoring power.

Does CRC QD Contact Cleaner leave a residue?

The data sheet describes rapid and complete evaporation that leaves no residue, with no rinsing or wiping required. It also states that the product contains no lubricants, silicones or oils. For heavily soiled or corroded surfaces, it recommends buffing first with a mild abrasive.

What does CRC QD Contact Cleaner remove?

It is formulated to flush away carbon deposits, dirt, light oils, dust, lint and other light contaminants. Used as part of a regular maintenance programme, it is intended to remove carbon deposits and other contaminants that hold moisture and cause corrosion or arcing.
