Description
Sika’s Lanko 173 Floor Leveller is a cement-based self-levelling underlayment used ahead of tiles, carpet and vinyl on concrete sub-floors. It needs only potable water to reach a fluid, self-levelling consistency that dries to a smooth, hard surface, and it doubles as a patching compound for small holes, static cracks and depressions in an otherwise sound slab.
It is not a wearing surface in its own right. Every application gets covered by tiles, carpet, vinyl or a compatible coating, and the product is not rated for permanent immersion.

Where to Use
- Levelling and smoothing concrete sub-floors before tiles, carpet or vinyl
- Repairing small holes, static cracks and depressions in structurally sound concrete
- Internal and external floors, protected from direct sun and wind while curing
- Deeper fills up to 100mm when extended with graded aggregate
How to Apply
- Prepare and prime — the slab must be dry, structurally sound and free of contaminants. Prime porous concrete with Lanko 124 Ultraprime neat; abrade or bond-coat non-porous surfaces first.
- Mix — add 4 to 4.5 litres of water to a clean bucket, then add the 20kg bag. Mix with a 12mm heavy-duty drill for at least 2 minutes to a smooth, lump-free consistency.
- Pour and spread — pump or hand-pour onto the primed surface soon after mixing and let it find its own level with an underlayment spreader.
- Cure — protect from direct sun and wind, especially at thicknesses over 10mm, to avoid flash-set and desiccation.
- Cover — tile at 4 hours, carpet at 16-24 hours, vinyl at 24-36 hours.
Important Notes
- Not for use over slabs with rising damp unless Lanko 531 Epoxy Moisture Barrier is applied first.
- Do not over-water, over-mix or add cement, lime, gypsum or other materials not specified.
- Discard any mixed material older than 10 minutes.
- Do not mix or apply below 5°C or above 35°C, or if those temperatures are expected within 24 hours.
- Left exposed longer than 48 hours, especially outdoors, seal with Lanko 742.
