Description

CorkArt Traditional Cork Floating Flooring in Caramel Finish is a natural cork floor backed by CorkArt’s 10-year residential wear warranty, alongside a lifetime structural warranty against manufacturing defects and a lifetime joint-integrity warranty covering the locking mechanism. Being cork, it’s a genuinely different material to laminate or engineered timber — warmer underfoot and naturally resilient — but that also means the warranty terms are specific about how and where it can be installed.

The wear warranty only applies where visible wear covers a minimum of around 10% of the installed floor area; gloss reduction on its own isn’t treated as wear. The joint warranty allows for minor gapping up to 0.2mm from normal seasonal movement without it counting as a defect, since all floating floors move slightly with humidity changes.

Technical Specifications

Finish Caramel
Wear warranty 10 years residential, minimum ~10% of floor area affected to claim
Structural warranty Lifetime, against manufacturing defects
Joint-integrity warranty Lifetime; minor gapping up to 0.2mm not considered a defect
Concrete subfloor moisture limit ≤5 lbs/1000 sq ft/24hr (calcium chloride) or ≤4.5% (moisture meter)
Wood subfloor moisture limit ≤14%

Where to Use

  • Interior residential rooms subject to normal traffic
  • Dry, climate-controlled areas only
  • Not suitable for bathrooms, saunas or other wet/damp areas

How to Apply

  1. Test the subfloor — carry out a moisture test; over concrete, use a calcium chloride test, and over wood, check the moisture reading against the 14% limit.
  2. Confirm the vapour barrier — do not use a polyethylene film vapour barrier over wood subfloors.
  3. Install per the laying instructions — read the full installation guide before starting, particularly the subfloor moisture and underfloor-heating notes.
  4. If gluing — glue the entire floor with an adhesive meeting the specified PVAC dispersion parameters, and allow the floor to set for 12 hours before normal use.
  5. Maintain the finish — clean with dry maintenance methods only; wet maintenance is not permitted under the warranty.

Important Notes

  • Wet maintenance of any kind will void the warranty — this is a dry-clean-only floor.
  • Cork is a natural material; shade and colour will vary batch to batch and can change slightly with UV exposure over time.
  • Water damage of any kind, including from subfloor hydrostatic pressure, is excluded from the warranty entirely.
  • Improper installation, including skipping the required moisture testing, will invalidate the warranty.

Cork’s cellular structure is what gives it that different underfoot feel compared with a hard laminate or timber floor — it compresses slightly and rebounds, which also helps it absorb impact sound better than most floating floor materials. That same cellular structure is why the installation requirements are stricter around moisture than they might be for a more moisture-tolerant product: cork will expand if it takes on excess moisture from below, which is exactly what the calcium-chloride and moisture-meter subfloor testing is designed to catch before it becomes a problem after installation rather than during it.

Frequently asked questions

What warranty does CorkArt cork flooring carry?

A 10-year residential wear warranty covering surface wear over a minimum of 10% of the installed floor, plus a lifetime structural warranty against manufacturing defects and a lifetime joint-integrity warranty against the planks coming apart.

Can CorkArt cork flooring be installed in a bathroom?

No — the warranty specifically excludes wet or damp areas such as bathrooms or saunas. It’s intended for normal-traffic interior residential use in dry, climate-controlled rooms.

Does the subfloor need testing before installing CorkArt flooring?

Yes. A moisture test is required before installation — a calcium chloride test over concrete (readings above 5 lbs/1000 sq ft/24 hours are unacceptable), or a maximum 14% moisture reading over wood subfloors.
