Description

SikaBond T-55 J is a 1-component elastic wood flooring adhesive designed for full-surface bonding of solid and engineered wood floors, with good workability that makes it genuinely easy to spread evenly across a large floor area. Its elasticity does double duty: it reduces stress transfer between the timber floor and the substrate, which both protects the flooring from substrate movement and provides genuine footfall-sound dampening.

Being sandable, with the floor walkable after just 12 hours and ready for sanding after 24, gives a fast, practical schedule for a full-surface bonded timber floor compared with adhesives that need longer cure times before the floor can be worked on. Its ability to bond directly onto old ceramic tiles is a genuine advantage for renovation jobs, avoiding the cost and disruption of removing an existing tiled floor before laying new timber.

How to Apply

  1. Prepare the substrate — ensure it is clean, dry and sound, including old tile surfaces if bonding over them.
  2. Apply the adhesive — spread evenly across the full surface using a suitable notched trowel.
  3. Lay the timber flooring — press boards into the adhesive per the flooring manufacturer’s instructions.
  4. Allow to set — floor walkable after 12 hours.
  5. Sand if required — wait until 24 hours have passed before sanding.

  • Store in dry conditions, protected from sunlight, +5°C to +25°C.
  • Low VOC content, meets LEED EQc 4.1, SCAQMD Rule 1168 and BAAQMD Reg. 8, Rule 51.
