Davco Supamastic is a ready to use, pre-mixed, flexible tile adhesive ideal for light coloured stones and suitable for internal walls and floors. Suitable for interior applications. Domestic walls and floors.

WHERE TO USE Davco Supamastic

Surfaces

Davco Supamastic is suitable for use over most common substrates; building boards including fibre cement sheet and plasterboard, tile underlay, rendered brickwork and blockwork.

Tiles

Davco Supamastic is ideal for most common tiles; ceramic, porcelain and mosaic tiles. Not suitable for moisture sensitive stones.

Areas

Davco Supamastic is suitable for interior applications only. Domestic walls and porous floors including bathrooms, kitchens and laundries.

Mix Process

• Supamastic is ready to use straight from pail. No mixing required

Laying the Tiles

1. Deposit a quantity of adhesive onto the prepared substrate. Do not apply more adhesive than can be tiled within the open time of the product, usually from a single tile up to around 0.5m2 at a time.

2. Hold the notched trowel at an angle of 60o or greater to the substrate.

3. Spread the adhesive over the area where tile is to be applied, forming straight rows of adhesive “beads”.

4. Where “back buttering” is required, use the straight side of the trowel to apply a thin covering of adhesive to the back of the tile.

5. Position the tile on the beaded adhesive and press firmly.

6. Move the tile forward and then back at 90o across the direction of the beads to ensure all beads are flattened leaving no voids under the tile – Occasionally lift a tile after placing

it to check that the beads are fully compressed and that sufficient coverage has been achieved (90–100%). Replace the tile.

7. After laying a section at a time, remove any excess adhesive from the grout joint and the surface of the tiles with a damp cloth while the adhesive is still wet.

Clean-up & Return to Service

• Clean tools and equipment with water before the adhesive dries

• Allow product to gain initial set before grouting

• Allow product to set firmly before return to service

Note: Setting times of adhesive is affected by site conditions, climate and could be faster or slower than specified

Safety

• SDS is available from www.parexdavco.com.au

• It is recommended that applicators wear PVC or similar gloves and safety goggles while handling this product. If contact with eye occurs, rinse with cool water. If ingested, seek immediate medical assistance

• Keep out of reach of children

General

• All surfaces must be suitably sound, clean and installed according to manufacturer’s instructions and relevant Australian Standard(s)

• Do not apply in temperatures above 35oC or below 5oC

• In cool and/or humid conditions, allow longer setting times

• Do not allow the adhesive to skin prior to laying the tiles. If the adhesive skins remove and dispose of it, then re-apply fresh adhesive

• Movement joints must be installed as stipulated in AS3958, “Guide to the Installation of Ceramic Tiles”. Failure to do so may result in drummy or lifting tiles

Specific

• Not suitable for tiling over concrete, waterproofing membranes or existing ceramic tiles – use a suitable Davco cement-based adhesive

• Not suitable for moisture sensitive stone – use Davco 2 Part Rapid

• Use only on low porosity tiles when tiling over a porous / absorbent surface

• Supamastic is suitable for adhering porous (>3% absorption) tiles over Davco Waterproofing Membranes (K10 Plus, Dampflex, Dampfast and K10 Rapid) for walls only. However, the drying time before grouting will be greatly extended
